Culture Shock LA voted 2009 Team of the Year!

On Saturday, March 7th, Culture Shock LA was presented the 2009 TEAM OF THE YEAR Award at the 2nd Annual V.Ent Award Show in Glendale, CA. Myself, along with a few members of the CSLA family (Arnel, Anna, Stacey, Crystal, George, Patrick, Justin, Earl, Emeroy, John, Igi, Vinh, Philup, Mark, Jolene, DGyrl, Lauren, and Josh) and quite a few Future Shock LA dancers were present to accept this award on behalf of the entire Culture Shock LA famiily. We were so humbled to receive this honor, especially being nominated with a group of very talented and accomplished dance teams, including the Jabbawockeez, Team Millenia, and GRV. It was an enjoyable night from the pre-show cypher to the performances (especially Philup’s Movement Project) to then being awarded Team of the Year! It was great night overall.
To the CSLA Board of Directors, CSLA/FSLA Full Board of Operations, Culture Shock alumni, the entire Culture Shock and Future Shock family, and, of course, to our 2008-09 Culture Shock LA family, you are all true role models in the community and congratulations on being recognized for all your talents, efforts, and positivity.
Thank you once again to V.Ent for hosting this wonderful event. And to the entire dance community, thank you for your unrelenting support with all we do! CSLA continues to be inspired by your artistry and to be motivated to continue to grow artistically, reach out to underserved communities, and educate others about the history and positive impact Hip Hop dance has on each and every one of us.

i didn’t even know there was such a thing as Dance Awards… but i think that CSLA’s impact is with its community, with genuine outreach and a charitable outlook. it’s done more than many other groups in this manner, i will venture to say.

Great job, CSLA, congrats! Keep up the great work … ya’ll deserve it and then some! I still don’t know how ya’ll do it though. ya’ll have different groups and styles and somehow it all CONNECTS.
